Yin Yoga
Your body posture can make you look tall, slimmer and most notably, confident. Something as simple as a right yoga posture is what most of us lack today. Today’s contemporary lifestyle has strained the spine by keeping it bent for a long time. Inactive jobs, long working hours and extreme use of gadgets make our body more slump and curved. That’s the main reason we often end up with pain in different body parts.
By practicing some easy yoga postures regularly you can free yourself from pains and aches. Our body is said to be in an accurate posture when it is lined up in a way that the back is straight, a shoulder formed and relaxed, chin up, chest out and stomach in. The first reason why yoga is so important at improving posture is that it reminds you that every part of your body from head to toe is doing what it’s supposed to do. The major challenge which people face when it comes to right posture is that their back and stomach don’t have enough strength to hold their body upright for a long time period.
Tadasana or the mountain pose is one of the simplest asanas which forms a base for other asanas. Chair pose is one of the best yoga poses for improved posture. This posture tells your body how to align itself and slowly improve your posture. Cobra pose is yet another dominant yoga pose which works towards opening up the shoulders and the chest.
Right body posture help us feel confident, look taller and slimmer, and is way better for our bodies in the long run. Fortunately, yoga’s is a remarkable tool to help you develop the right posture. Yang Yoga helps you develop your strength whereas Yin Yoga develops the ability to stay strong and mindful.
It is a very profound way of practicing postural yoga/asanas, where your body achieves balance; where tissues get stimulated, revived and strengthened in poses. It is a style of yoga that is complimentary to a more active (or YANG) style of yoga.
YIN yoga is often confused with restorative yoga and sometimes called “stretch” yoga. The main difference between YIN and restorative yoga is that restorative yoga achieves a restorative state, a relaxation and complete calm. There is not much “doing” in a pose and the props are used to completely support the body to achieve this calm, restorative state.
Whereas in YIN we often are instructed in a very similar pose but the emphasis is put on stressing the tissues. We use the props here in a different way, sometimes to support the body and perhaps prevent the injury (due to the striving mind), sometimes to achieve and emphasise the stressing of the tissue.
