Vinyasa Flow
Vinyasa yoga is an extraordinary type of yoga described by stringing poses together so that you can easily move from one to another, using breath. Vinyasa is known as the transitory nature of things which means that we enter into a pose, stay there for a while and then leave. Vinyasa yoga is a breath initiated practice which links every action of your life with the intent to move towards what is important. Vinyasa Flow yoga is an energetic and dynamic style of yoga originated by Professor T. Krishnamacharya and is in continuous evolution.
Vinyasa means a gradual progression or a step-by-step approach that connects one pose to another, unifying the breath and movement in the steps for a smooth “flow”. Vinyasa Flow Yoga is a sequence of asanas (postures) that intelligently flow and are connected together by the breath. The class flows into a wave motion through cycles of effective, intelligent and always new sequences –vinyasas- linked together through the breath-wave.
Starting with stillness and awareness on the breath and on our current state, we always begin the class with identifying and setting an intention/Sankalpa. Asanas, Pranayama (breath work), Hasta Mudra (hand gestures/locks), Bandhas (energetic locks) are brought to the class. The class is punctuated by one or more peak asanas and followed by counter poses. To soothe the nervous system, and depending on the time available, the class usually finishes with a lunar sequence followed by Savasana (complete relaxation or corpse pose).
In this yoga, the shift will link Vinyasa yoga poses to one another. In order to move in a smoother, related way you need to devote time developing skills in transition as you do in asana. In yoga, your ultimate goal is to achieve Sthira Sukham Asanam (postures needed to be steady and comfortable). It is a state where asana gives you pure joy. Vinyasa yoga is as good for your body as it is for your mind. Vinyasa runs into you where you are—which in today’s world is extraordinary energy, going in a billion directions at once. It meets you there and leads you by the hand back to an internal peace which exists inside you.
The central ideal of Vinyasa Flow is to change the importance from posture to breath. For yoga beginners looking for flow, our Vinyasa flow classes offer various yoga postures in an expressive order. This class is perfect for all yoga beginners but work equally for everyone.
